We know y’all got that PSL: Pelagic Stingray Love! Three young pelagic stingrays have joined the rest of the Open Sea community. These open ocean pancakes are found around the world and are the only stingray that lives almost exclusively in the midwater, flap flapping after squid, crabs and jellies.
Back at work as a marine naturalist in Kachemak Bay. The humpbacks have not yet arrived, but the sea otters are such a delight it almost makes up for the whales’ absence.
The ocean is just like you: It gets by with a little kelp from its friends. Sea otters are not only the world’s cutest marine mammals, they’re also gardeners of coastal ecosystems, promoting plant and algal growth in the wake of their furious feasts on encroaching invertebrates.
